Expedition Everest
Opened in 2006 as Animal Kingdom's marquee thrill. The coaster runs forward through scenic mountain switchbacks, then backward through a darkened section of the mountain after the track ahead is 'destroyed,' then forward again for a finale featuring the Yeti — though the audio-animatronic figure has been stationary for years, replaced by stroboscopic 'disco yeti' lighting. Top speed about 50 mph, with multiple drops and tight turns. The exterior of the mountain is a structural marvel; the queue houses Imagineering-designed Tibetan artifacts.
